Rummy the Game is a Game for All

I grew up playing many games with friends and one of my favorites was the game Rummy. It is a very easy game to learn and is a lot of fun as the pace of the game is really quick, and you can play a lot of games in a short amount of time.

Rummy can also be easily turned into a gambling game. Since there are several variations to the game, you can just incorporate a few new rules concerning the handling of money.

Rummy can be played with as few as seven cards and up to if not more than 21 card, but I tell you this is played with a couple of decks and it is just a bit difficult to try holding 30 cards in your hand at one time while trying to organize them all.

I am going to go over the rules for seven card, but fortunately the game is the same with more cards.

Object

The object of Rummy is to be the first player to collect a run of 3 and or 4, and or collect a 3 of a kind and or a 4 of kind, using the 7 cards you have been dealt.

How to Play

First deal 7 cards to each player. The dealer then turns over the top card of the deck and turns it to the discard pile. The first player to go either chooses to take this card from the discard pile or draws a card from the deck and then decides whether to keep the card or discard the card or discarding another card from his hand. Players at all times must have seven in their hands unless drawing a card or deciding which card to discard.

The first player to combine in their hands one 3 of a kind and one run of 4 consecutive cards together must draw a card or take a card and then discard the last card (that is not needed) face down on the discard pile signifying the end of the game. Then the player shows his hand and then play switches sides as well as the deal.

There are many different things you can gamble on here like how long it will take to end the game, or what card combinations will be used. Or who will be the first to win 3 out of 5 or so on and so forth. It should not be too hard to come up with a few interesting wagers between friends. Well I hope you enjoy.
